- Why is Reiki an Ongoing Therapy?
Some are surprised or disappointed with treatments that cannot heal them in one session. Without an understanding of Reiki, it is easy to assume that it is simply a cure-all or even magic. And indeed, it does seem like that sometimes, however, Reiki is a healing modality just like any other. It has both great benefits and aspects that some may find lacking, such as the fact that it is most beneficial to use it as a consistent, ongoing practice. If your goal is simple relaxation for the next day or two, one treatment can go far. One Reiki treatment can also awaken you to the sensations of your subtle bodies so that you can be more intuitive with your body and emotions. Good health doesn't stop at the doctor's door. It takes dedication and consistency to get well and stay well for most people. When we go to the doctor's office it's typically for things that our bodies were not able to heal on their own. This is where Reiki comes in handy! It's an optimal treatment for the immune system and can help keep you out of the doctor's office, as well as treat illnesses that you would typically see a doctor for as well. Reiki can treat colds, infections, mental health ailments, chronic pain, and everything else! Depending on what you are being seen for, it may be best to receive your Reiki treatments all within a shorter time span or dedicate yourself to bi-weekly or monthly treatments. If you are looking for specific healing beyond relaxation, you will find that all ailments are treated and healed differently. Some ailments may take 3 treatments within a single week, such as a chronic flare-up, while other ailments such as grieving or anxiety typically require one appointment per week at first, before the client can begin to taper down to monthly. For those seeking energetic and Spiritual healing from Reiki, consistent treatments are essential in order to keep the body from resorting back to the low vibrational frequencies that disable it from the self-healing process. Treatment times are also dependent on how the sessions impact each client. It may be more comfortable and productive for some clients to return daily, while others may need a longer break between sessions. Hayashi Sensei described Reiki as the removing of very thin layers of paper each time you get a treatment. Sometimes the ailment is covered by a few layers, sometimes it is covered by many. For treatments that are relatively new, such as a stubbed toe, a toothache, or a tick bite, it can take as few treatments as two or three 15-minute sessions given throughout the day. These are the instances when it is really handy to be attuned to the process of Reiki healing so that you can treat your own acute ailments. For illnesses such as the early contraction of TB, a sprained ankle, acute dermatitis, or situational panic attacks, any combination of treatments from bi-weekly to almost daily could be the remedy, depending on how fast your body is able to heal itself during and after treatment. Reiki is an ongoing therapy because it is the practice of channeling energy into and throughout the physical body, balancing the vibrations of your bio-magnetic field (EMF) and the fields beyond the EMF. To do this is no great feat. It takes a lot of energy for our bodies to hold onto ailments, and in turn, it takes time to remove those ailments. When you receive a Reiki healing treatment, your energy is balanced quickly and you feel great, but without consistent energy work, when you enter back into spaces with unbalanced energies, your own vibration is impacted again. Reiki works on an exponential scale when you are consistent with it, just like meditation, building on its own success the more you receive it. The more Reiki you have, the longer it will last between sessions, and the better you will feel because the more it will clear out. Regardless of how many treatments it takes, or how many treatments you want, the biggest benefit that Reiki gives is both its ability to heal non-invasively and its ability to have residual healing effects on the rest of the body even when something acute is being treated. The throat chakra opens us up to communication with the highest good in mind, the kind of communication that can never go wrong because there is a larger force at work behind our words and actions. The throat chakra filters what comes in and what goes out, and so keeping it healthy and balanced is important for our social and professional lives. Use the link below as a source of music for your meditation background if you like. Let's get to work on intentional expression! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJs4iCV-g6I Take a deep cleansing breath. Breathe in sparkling white light. This light, It fills my throat, lungs, and it seeps into my tissues; Illuminating my skin and my energy channels. It runs down my throat and into my lungs, Penetrating every crevice of my lungs with clean, pure air As I breathe out slowly, I breathe out all of the air. I Push out all of the air, And pause. I am in charge of my breath. I choose every breath I take I take some moments to slow down now. I stabilize my breath. I fall deep into my seat as a string from my spine drops down into the ground, Reaching into the Earth, reminding me of the ancient wisdom that resides in my body. I choose this thought. To be still. I choose stillness. My mind may wander, And I bring it back. Back to where I want it to be, Focused on what I choose. I choose my focus. I choose my goals. I choose each thought, I focus my thoughts on what I choose, And I choose (stillness). As I practice directing and redirecting my thoughts each day, Choosing and controlling my thoughts becomes easier, Each day. I take responsibility for each of my thoughts. My thoughts lead to decisions. My decisions lead to actions. Actions lead to consequence, as every action has a reaction. If my thoughts lead to judgement, then I become the influencer. If my thoughts stay neutral, then I remain the observer. Each moment is an opportunity for me to direct my thoughts in the direction of my goal. I use each moment to choose my thought. Choosing my thoughts will strengthen my will. Choosing my thoughts will make my direction clear. Choosing my thoughts will silence that which no longer serves me. I am in charge. When you are ready, Open your eyes and be present in this place. Jamelle Z.M. Bare Roots Energy

- Are Reiki Practitioners Trained and Certified?
Some of them are, and some of them are not. Reiki regulated state by state as a medical medium, however, it is not highly monitored. Individuals do not need a license or certificate of coursework to practice Reiki effectively once they have been trained in the art, however, most states require it. You can find out more by following this magical link if you are inside the United States! https://reikilicensingboard.com/state-requirements/ Personally, I am certified in Usui Reiki levels I, II, and III, enabling me to treat myself, others, as well as attune others to Usui Reiki.
- What should I expect from my first session?
Expect your appointment to be full of relaxation! My clients have the option to sit in a chair or lay on the Reiki table (the same as a massage table) to receive their treatment. Pillows for under the neck and knees are available, are as light blankets if you are chilly. After receiving a Reiki treatment, most individuals report a feeling of calmness, stillness, and clarity. Some individuals may feel a bit sleepy afterward, depending on what they are processing, and others have left with a drive of contemplation. During a Reiki healing session, one may feel sensations of heat, chills, goosebumps, or skin pricks, as the energy flows through and around your body. Everyone's Reiki experience is different, and many people report having a different experience each time they receive their first few treatments. As always, it is helpful for me as a practitioner to hear how your experience went for you and would love to spend time visiting with you over a cup of tea, following your treatment.
- How should I prepare for my first treatment?
The only thing to do it arrive! Wear comfortable clothes, and appropriate shoe attire, as you may want to take your shoes off for the treatment. If you have a favorite pillow that you like with under your knees, some clients have found that helpful to bring along as well. Water is always a good thing to have on hand afterward too to replenish. You may choose to bring notes about particular areas of the body that are bothering you so that I can focus the healing treatment in those areas.
- My Reiki Story...
...goes back further than I was willing to admit for a long time. I've always had a shame attached to sharing extraordinary experiences-it was the one thing that could actually get me to shut up as a kid. The truth is, we all have it in us-extraordinary experiences, the only differing factor is the amount of faith and belief we each have in the unexplainable coincidences that occur along our path. After a healthy dose of partying as a young adult, and falling helplessly prey to this country's synthesized environment, by the time I was in my late 20's, I was dealing with insomnia, stress, digestive issues, a weakened immune system, and a broken-down gut. I couldn't focus, I was put on multiple medications, and ended up with a brain tumor from a birth control regime that I really didn't need. When I was in my second pregnancy during 2013, I was untrusting of the medical sciences that could never tell me why I was endlessly fatigued and frequently ill. Once I returned home from my 2013 cesarian, my body went haywire like a short circuit shutting down an entire city grid. I had trouble breathing, sleep became something of the past, my body stopped metabolizing nutrients, I began having migraines after a lifetime of rarely having slight headaches, my vision blurred, my mind began fogged, my sentences were jumbled, I had reflux, my skin was flushing and itching from head to toe, and I was ALWAYS ill. I chased diagnosis from one specialist to another and had nearly every type of blood draw imaginable, but nothing surfaced. It wasn't Lupus, It wasn't Crohn's or Celiacs, it wasn't my thyroid, autoimmune disease, or anything else they tested me for. Many times we thought the brain tumor had resurfaced, but no. There was no explanation for my endless list of symptoms, and by the time 2017 hit, my doctors were tired of the questions and complaints and had no answers, and I had no faith left in them. We knew that after years of work-related stress and trauma, I had adrenal fatigue and MCAS, however, most doctors don't know how to treat those disorders (at least in my experience). So there I sat. 36, sick, and no one but my good friend Vanilla Late keeping me awake and functioning enough to run a Special Education Classroom every day. My body was dying, and my family was paying the price of my work-related stress. That's when the turning point appeared. I asked for guidance, and I got it. I joined a good friend in my first Reiki course taught by Karen Harrison out of the KC area, and every day since has been better than the last, even with their challenges, unpredictabilities, and heart breaks. Once I had affirmation and camaraderie in knowing the true nature of what we are as human experiencers, I began to rebuild my confidence and live with both conviction and purpose again. It sounds crazy to say that, knowing that I was a Special Education teacher- one of the most rewarding jobs there is. But the system is a cruel and tangled mess, and does not offer the time it takes for self care and mental health attention. Reiki paved the way for me to see myself from the outside in again, allowing me to express with whole truth and the creativity I had as a girl. Then my self esteem returned! I was able to plan my long term goals again, understand how my children needed me, and I could clearly see my place in the world. I felt like I was no longer trapped in a reality that I didn't choose. I began to make my own choices again, and now I'm smiling again! With regular attention to my meditative practices and through Reiki healing, I was able to clearly see what small dietary changes I needed to make to begin healing my body, how to handle the smallest stressors, and how to organize my routines so that they benefited efficiency, rather than urgency. Reiki has not only turned my life into an open plane of possibilities that I never thought this existence would afford me, but it has also empowered me to use my power of manifestation to build the kind of world around me that will provide future generations with love. After implementing regular meditative manifestation routines, I was able to quit my job and follow this path- the path of healing, and the path that I would never verbalize until now.
- The Trashiest Meditation; Daily Meditative Practices for our Carbon Footprint
The Trashiest Meditation; Our Carbon Footprint In the depths of 2020, we are drowning in trash, as we have been for decades now. It has filled our oceans so full of debris that not even the Earth’s natural filtration systems can keep up any longer. We are seeing our planet dying, but we still package everything as if everything’s fine. Our human waste is one of the top three heart breakers I think about and get sick to my stomach over every day. I feel a deep guilt for the carbon footprint I leave, and minimize it as much as possible, although this is definitely a work in progress when you have a family. We have been continually adjusting from this to that in aims of being more conscious consumers, but that alone isn’t enough to save the day! I can tell you to recycle and cut down your carbon footprint- but the world needs you to do your job, which still requires you to have a carbon footprint. It’s a double-edged sword. But- something can be done- passively in the background as we carry on with our day to day lives. Below are some examples of small, quick meditative and affirmation practices that you can fit into your daily life, and make a lasting impact on this specific issue: Our Carbon Footprint. A collective of specific affirmations taking place every day over an extended period of time can result in some real change that we can see, hear, and feel in the world around us. These are suggested affirmations ready for you, but do not feel married to the exact format. Use them as guides to find the tiny bits of your day that can aid you in manifesting the world you want to see. Happy Earth Day, Happy Trash Day, and Happy Meditation Day! ~ Much love, Bare Roots Energy When and Where Meditation/Affirmation Every time you touch a piece of paper: “I have the time to recycle.” Every time you touch cardboard: “This cardboard can be recycled into energy.” Every time you throw something away: “They have found a clean way to turn our waste and trash into a free source of energy!” Every time you put your groceries in your car: “People are investing in cleaning the oceans worldwide, everyday.” Every time you are brushing your teeth with the water off: “The collective is awakening to the necessity of our Planet’s health.” Every time you put on your shoes: “I acknowledge my role in taking care of my home.”
- Frequencies and Tones for Healing; Targeted Playlists for Your Personalized Healing
Below are specific Youtube playlists that target health issues. Please follow the recommendations below to get the maximum benefit and to use the system safely. __________________________ To use, simply choose the ailment that you have, and copy and paste the link into your browser. You may log into Youtube and enter the link in the Youtube search bar as well. __________________________ *You do not have to use all of the tones in the linked playlist, but you may if you wish. *Listen to the tones and assess how they make you feel. If they are unpleasant, give you a headache, or create anxiety, do not listen to them, or the particular one that is giving you an unpleasant feeling. *listening to these tones and tracks at a low volume level with headphones is the most effective way to gain benefit from rife frequencies, however, if you do not like to listen in that way, you can play them outloud. *Be aware that some of the tracks are recorded at a different volume, therefore, playing an entire playlist while in a meditative state could be jolting if the track changes and the next played video/frequency is louder than the one before. I have tried to keep that from happening, and please let me know if you experience this during your listening. *You may feel very very relaxed, even dizzy after listening. Get up slowly and drink a lot of water to rebalance yourself, then ground yourself to wake back up. *If you do not see the ailment that bothers you on the list, let me know and I will post it for you! __________________________ Youtube links Abdominal Cramp https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPCeRiyPRwi2Rp9tHh_FfnWD&jct=wCJzihisx_ZmkuceVuJf_l3b2XoVnQ Adrenal Gland https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPANklbxPRLtxs0wM5gRk7yg&jct=HF7yMxK8kG3iP3LUG7uM8PKp-LxmBQ Arthritis & Joint Pain https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPA_aIXOhokjp3oC_Dr1D2xV&jct=c9D_ILbUlWxcFZhn4oRS8RXcmPTyNw Digestive Tract https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoLzHt51C8dFMn29bEp7BTe4mxcncymwq&jct=xqJrI8udlvlWMloJV1WFhsSNoiDhjw Fatigue https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPA3Oudi-YlEyg2BKq0rckBW&jct=2GeyTY75ekvqrthY6DHtiiSUtMD69w Headache & Migraine https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPDhkQhr-n5jrCSMEGbQXG0i&jct=MYx6CZaRlvDbrO7erv6GcYO3Go0neQ Healing/Regeneration https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPA7CbFKos3II-FDWytshNms&jct=HkVqaEVENexr-cbGnOac9365iU6-Uw High Blood Pressure https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPC7Gai7AEvaElGVeaDjrseI&jct=Udz5A6jfQP3AmJLYA8ZZTD_-J9_sUQ Indigestion https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPAMxbf7FcTdKKJ9so2Q2qSO&jct=MYrRGZKz3Yd4TU6HyNVLrkhpZ0Epsw Low Blood Pressure https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPBJ0egHX4pDHYhuxF2Co7kK&jct=PHFqq26j7LA965-2NqbZBhhhqZHn5w Migraine & Headache https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPDhkQhr-n5jrCSMEGbQXG0i&jct=MYx6CZaRlvDbrO7erv6GcYO3Go0neQ Regeneration/Healing https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkhWSwWpQPA7CbFKos3II-FDWytshNms&jct=HkVqaEVENexr-cbGnOac9365iU6-Uw Sinusitis https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoLzHt51C8dGyGbUEe2ywVj4dXziOrm5r&jct=71lUkprvTT6whXCCSMnfDmaXvyN3lg Thyroid https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoLzHt51C8dEzq_SayKio9GOmc7pXdT8v&jct=kD4FEcf1-CaHxVWa3DMUKTtL3G9thg Viral Infections https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoLzHt51C8dGPbI4yF5dlJpVrzxMIv1Cl&jct=YtjTR2wV3rq00OxBYk2ktYr_xEN1aA
- On The Edges of Neutrality
...and how upset do you get when your sisters talk about you, or when the guy in the office gives you his famous smirk again? Do you go into situations such as these with expectations? If so, what are those expectations? Remember, your expectations are like your intentions, background thoughts that are typically unintentional. Use them wisely, or let them go.
- Trick or Seed?
Winterizing the garden has gotten a bit more unpredictable with our climate changes in the recent decades. I find it most useful to first rely on the knowledge and recommendations of our forefathers who have farmed for generations, and then relying on my instincts to read the weather patterns. The weather is changing, and with it, the way in which we need to interact and care for the Earth around us. We use to be able to predict harvest and frost dates with ease. Now, our hot summer days are stretching across the month of July without pity for the dried plants it leaves in its wake. Each year it seems more and more that we now have 2 growing seasons where we once had 1. I have finally found a good midwest routine of planting early for a Spring garden; giving many thanks when I yield anything during the hot weeks of summer; and planting my fall garden as soon as the August heat starts to die down. With the practice of working with the weather patterns we are given, I have increased my garden output nearly by half. Over the past few years our winters have been unpredictable here in Kansas. However, even in the middle of a city-ish town, the planet has provided every year, exactly what my garden has needed for successful perennial survival. After the first threat of frost visits I cover everything with leaves. I have surrounded my garden bed and plants within with stones, which helps to hold in the heat; an old Irish tradition. This simple practice has brought back all of my herbs and my strawberries, which in my opinion, is more than enough to ask for from a novice gardener! From one gardener to another, happy endless and unpredictable planting season!
